Greenville Women Giving Grant

A $50,000 grant from Greenville Women Giving enabled Triune to install new exterior doors to both the Mercy Center and the Sanctuary, enhance security, and improve video monitoring.
In 2025, Triune was awarded a $50,000 grant from Greenville Women Giving to replace exterior doors, enhance security, and improve our video monitoring. We are happy to report the project has been completed!

The wooden doors to our sanctuary had warped over the years, and it became difficult to close and lock them, creating a security risk. This grant enabled us to replace those doors with new metal doors, eliminating the problem and allowing us to easily secure the building.

The Rutherford Street entrance to the Mercy Center had been an issue for years. The covered portico attracted all sorts of bad behavior, including the accumulation of trash and discarded belongings. It was also used as a place to engage in recreational pharmaceuticals, and our staff and volunteers were often forced to clean up mystery puddles left in this area. The grant from GWG enabled us to install new exterior doors that sealed off the covered portico, eliminating access to this covered space, thus increasing the safety of our staff, volunteers, and parishioners. We were also able to improve video monitoring of our perimeter, improving security.

None of this would have been possible without the generosity of Greenville Women Giving. We would like to express our gratitude to this organization, and acknowledge the great work they do each year for our entire community through grants like this one. We appreciate our partnership with GWG!

Spotlight on Homeless Court Graduation

picture from Triune's Instagram
On June 1st, we celebrated the graduation of one of our parishioners from Greenville Homeless Court. Homeless Court meets at Triune on the first Monday of the month at 2pm. Individuals facing nonviolent charges may apply. It is a free, voluntary diversion program designed to help people experiencing homelessness exit the criminal justice system with little-to-no impact on their record. Participants are paired with an attorney who will help with the legal matters, while local service providers assist with navigating resources appropriate to their needs. Homeless Court is open to the public, and all are welcome to check it out in person.

Updates to Website Volunteer Section

We've made some changes to the Volunteer Opportunities section on our website.
We have updated the Volunteer Opportunities section of our website. If you go to "Contact" in the menu options and select "Volunteer Opportunities" in the drop down, you will be taken to our newly revamped Volunteer page. There, you may schedule a tour with Grayson, our volunteer coordinator, as well as view availability for serving churches to provide meals. We value our partnerships with Triune volunteers, and are continually working to improve how we coordinate these vital roles in our ministry. Please contact Grayson Hiatt with any questions or concerns you may have, or to find out more about volunteering at Triune.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

by Trevor Barton

At Triune Mercy Center, we say "teamwork makes the dream work" every day.

Since our mission is to share Christ's love by providing life changing opportunities, meeting the needs of the disadvantaged, and doing Biblical justice in the community, we know we need each other to see that calling through. We need to work together as a team. What does that kind of teamwork look like? Let me tell you a story.

One Thursday, Grayson received a phone call from a Greenville County Police officer. "I have one of your parishioners in the back seat of my patrol car," he said. "I'm transporting him to the jail and he told me that he's expecting some important mail to come to TMC. Can you check and see if he has any mail there?"

"I can't tell you if he has mail or not over the phone," said Grayson, "But if you can come by, I'll be happy to come down to the parking lot, check his identity, and get any mail that might be here for him." Grayson hung up the phone. Triune began "Triuneing." We have so many opportunities to share Christ's love here. The phone rang again. It was the police officer. Grayson went down to check on the parishioner. He was who he said he was. Grayson brought his mail to him. Within those letters were some pieces that he needed to help keep his life from spinning completely out of control. The police officer's kindness by taking a few extra minutes to bring the parishioner by TMC? Grayson's kindness by getting his mail to him? That is mercy. That is teamwork. Teamwork that makes the dream work. God's dream. Our mission.

So to our regular police officers who come to TMC and work with us to keep everyone safe — Officers Bryan, Fleming, Harrison, Heaton, and Hill — we say, "Thank you!" We're glad to be teammates with you. And to you we say, "Thank you!" We're glad to be teammates with you, too. You help make the dream work.
